Syed Muhammad Abubakar is a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) and doctoral student in the Department of Communication at George Mason University (GMU). He is an international award-winning environmental journalist and a Chevening Alumni. He has been writing on environmental causes for almost a decade. His bylines have appeared in Reuters, Dialogue Earth, D+C, Dawn, The News International, and Express Tribune, among others. Abubakar has also served with various environmental organizations as a communications specialist. Abubakar is a citizen of Pakistan.

– Working on a research project titled “Climate journalism challenges in northern Pakistan”
– Working on a research project to document the perceptions of climate experts working to reduce the vulnerability of communities to Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in northern Pakistan
